Agendas - Agendas are to be used as a communication tool for the student, parent(s) / guardian(s), and myself. We will be using it on a daily basis. Therefore, it is important that it finds its way back to school and doesn’t get left behind in the shuffle. On the right of the weekly page, you will find that there is a space where you may communicate with me there too if you wish. I will place any additional letters needing to be sent home in the students' book bag, as well as a home reading book and a reading log. I will check the agenda and book bag daily for any returning forms.
Allergies – we do not have any allergies in the classroom this year, therefore students are permitted to bring food products containing nuts.
Communication- if you need to communicate with me, I can be reached through Class Dojo or by e-mail at [email protected].I do my best to check my e-mails daily. You may also communicate via the agenda or by calling the school at 204-785-8284.
Homework - We will begin home reading in the second week of September. There will be a reading log that will need to be updated and a list of high frequency sight words to review. 10-15 minutes of reading should be done at home daily, as well as sight word practice to develop good reading habits. Students will choose a new book daily that is at or below his/ her current reading level (books that are too difficult are frustrating and discouraging!) He/ She may read the same book more than once if necessary to develop self-confidence and improve fluency. Have fun and make it a positive learning experience for all of you!
Scholastics – I will be sending home order forms monthly. If you would like to place an order, you may send a cheque (payable to Scholastics Canada Ltd. or by paying online through Scholastic Canada)
Toys - I ask that all toys (stuffies, trading cards, shopkins, etc.) be left at home, unless there is a note saying otherwise for a special activity or show and tell.
Class parties – We will have a few class parties as part of our learning to celebrate happy occasions with friends. A letter dividing snacks will be sent home as well as posted on the classroom website. Further details regarding parties will be sent home at a later date.
Our expectations are:
